Tip Of The Month: Rich Text Editor - Getting The Most Out Of It
With version 5.5 Hot Banana has significantly expanded and enhanced its Rich Text Editor (RTE) capabilities to instantly create and format tables, add anchors and paste various tables and documents from Microsoft Word or Office.
How Do You Do This?
By right clicking your mouse inside the content editing area, you will see a host of options appear which will enable you to cut, paste, paste from Word, anchor and insert tables.
Paste From Word
The "Paste from Word" option allows you to copy any tables or documents you may have created in Micorosoft Office or Word and paste them directly into the Hot Banana Rich Text Editor via a filter which cleans the content from any bad code, tabs or tags and makes it ready for formatting.

Adding Tables
When you select the "Insert Table" option, a pop up will appear which will enable you to customize the number of rows, columns, and the background color of the table you wish to create.

Once you've set up your table, you can configure it any way you like. Start by right clicking inside or on the border of your table, then choose whether you would like to change the table properties, row properties or cell properties.

Next, choose the properties that you would like to modify. In this example we have chosen Table Row Properties. We have center aligned our text, added a new background color and chose vertical alignment to have our text appear in the middle of the row.

Since we have updated the current row, it is now appearing in yellow. Here's an example:
Susan | Jeff | John | Crystal |
Krista | David | Chris | Lori |
Jason | Thomas | Kevin | Ketan |
Adding Anchor Links
The Anchor tag gives you another option outside of the listing tool to create a "Frequently Asked Questions" page or a list of links with supplement information at the bottom of a page. You can easily acheive this by right clicking inside of the body area.
Typically you'll want to add this to the bottom of your page or where your answer resides.
Right click before the first character in your paragraph. Select Anchor from the list of options.

A popup will now appear which will prompt you to enter the name of the anchor. Make sure you select a different anchor for each area you'll be linking to.

You will now see an anchor icon appear before your text.
![]()
Now select the link icon
![]()
You will now see the option at the bottom of the types of links called "Anchor link"

Choose the anchor you have created from the Anchor Link option and click on the OK button.
Preview your page and when you click on the question or the text at the
top of the page, it will now jump to the section you have linked to.
